Edward K. Blodnick
Ed graduated from Harvard College and went on to earn his LLB from Columbia Law School. He is admitted to the State Bars of New York, New Jersey, and Florida, as well as the US District Court of Eastern and Southern Districts of NY, the US Court of Appeals (First, Second, and Fourth Circuits), the US Court of Appeals (Federal Circuit), US Federal Court of Claims, and the US Supreme Court. He is a member of the Nassau County, New York State, Womens Bar Association of Brooklyn, and American Bar Associations.
Ed has an AV and Pre-Eminent rating, achieved by less than 1% of all lawyers in Martindale-Hubbell. His success is based on his philosophy that the client’s objectives are his objectives. He is sought out to help create solutions to unusual and complex problems and creates a written game plan which includes the strategy, the objectives, the likelihood of success, estimated cost and the chances of reaching the objective. Ed’s practice has a primary focus on construction and corporate litigation. His areas of expertise include business corporate law and dissolutions and no-fault litigation. In addition, he has specialties in employment litigation as it relates to discrimination. Ed has also engaged in a series of sophisticated no-fault insurance coverage cases in the Federal Court in Brooklyn and in Nassau County Supreme Court. He represents medical providers, their facilities directors and the facility owners. In one of the Nassau County cases, Ed has 29 insurance companies as adversaries. He has an outstanding reputation as a goal oriented litigator. Ed has handled corporate dissolutions, construction law cases, other insurance coverage issues, architectural and attorney malpractice cases, ERISA cases, and matrimonial cases involving substantial business interests as well as municipal, state and school law.
Among Ed’s legal accomplishments are the following: (i) reacquiring Rocky Mount Undergarment, Inc. for David Greenberg, the founder after being locked out by his former attorney and then handling the sale of one of its divisions; (ii) successfully litigating on behalf of Long Island Junior Soccer League against Charles Wang and acquiring a 20 year lease for Long Island Junior Soccer League; (iii) successfully defeating preliminary injunction and motions to dismiss where Ed’s client was litigating against 30 insurance companies; and (iv) successfully concluded lien litigation for shareholders at 9 West 51st Street, New York, New York involving approximately 10,000,000 in claims.
Ed has also been General Counsel, a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Long Island Branch of the American Cancer Society. He has been active in the fight against Autism including lecturing and performing law work for various organizations. Ed also represents families of children who require special services from their school districts, and does so at substantially reduced fees.
